Note: Heating Four Inserts Simultaneously
Objective:
To determine the time required to simultaneously heat four brass inserts from 4000 to 10000 °F. The brass inserts are to be heated prior to insertion into a
plastic automotive sub assembly.

Equipment:
Ambrell 2.5 kW induction heating system including one remote heat station, and a unique coil designed to simultaneously heat four inserts.
Materials:
Brass Inserts measuring 3/8 in OD and 3/8 in long
Temperature:
4000 to 10000 °F
Frequency:
145 kHz
Testing:
By using the Ambrell 2.5 kW system, the following results were obtained:
2.0 seconds to 4000 °F
3.0 seconds to 5000 °F
3.5 seconds to 6000 °F
4.0 seconds to 7000 °F
4.5 seconds to 8000 °F
5.0 seconds to 10000 °F
Uniform heating was observed between all four inserts.
